The next 30 years will see 32,000 new homes appear gradually in the barren wastelands of post-Olympics East London in the form of five ‘Legacy Neighbourhoods’. In the meantime, Interim Uses (the legitimisation of the ‘pop-up’) look to set temporarily colonise these territories, with little sense of their long-term effect. Could radically retooled and strategic pop-ups – ‘Stay-Ups’ – have a lasting impact on the shape of these future neighbourhoods?
